Virginia Leonard Davis

Virginia Leonard Davis, of the Dawnville Community, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2026. The Lord blessed her with almost 95 years on this earth—just three months shy of her 95th birthday in November. She had many names: Virginia, Gint, mama….. but the one she loved the most was Mamaw!!!!!

Gint was born in Murray County to the late Joe Leonard Sr & Mattie. She loved nothing more, over the years, than driving back over the roads where she grew up reminiscing and telling story after story of her childhood days. But always followed it up with, "but I wouldn't want to live back here!"
She was a very hard worker! Whether she was in the garden at daybreak in her younger years; behind a cash register at Dawnville Grocery & Hardware and later Stafford's Foodlane (she had a love for her customers and they loved her as well); or in the kitchen cooking for her family or someone in need - she gave her all. Homemade biscuits & desserts were her specialty!
She had a love for people and loved to laugh & talk! She was a natural caregiver, beginning with her late husband, Howard, who became ill early in their marriage. She always helped take care of her family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Danny Jones; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kim Davis; her grandchildren, Brian (Ashley) Jones, Kip (Elizabeth) Davis, and Eli Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sophie, and Samuel Jones.

A special thanks to RossWoods Adult Day Services; the staff of Hearth Hospice; Nises Quarles & Pleasant Valley for the care given during this past year of decline.

A private family graveside service will be held at Dawnville Community Church Cemetery.
