Mrs. Teresa Mary Ellen Johnson, age 82, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Teresa was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church, then Murray Baptist Church, and finally Opportunity Baptist Church. She used her life to serve children and the families of Murray County first as owner and child care provider at Teresa's Daycare and later through the Murray County Child Nutrition Program at several schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Luke Johnson; son, George Michael Johnson; grandson, Adam Bartley; granddaughter, Amy Winkler; mother, Naomi Bowen; brothers, Kenneth Russo, Jimmy Bowen, and Calvin Bowen.

She leaves behind four brothers, Randall Bowen, Dale (Connie) Bowen, Gary (Sonya) Bowen, and Patrick Bowen.

Committed to honoring her life are her remaining children, Lisa (Jody) Strickland, Angela (Calvin) Keel, Diane (James) Duckett, Melissa (Jack) Manuel, and Kevin (Crystal) Johnson; grandchildren, Natasha (Huston) Elliott, David Winkler, Jarrod (Kinzie) Keel, Holly Keel Brown, Joshua (Kristen) Strickland, Tabitha (Larry) Ellis, Sarah (Kyle) Parker, Kyle Duckett, Luke Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Austin Townsend, and Erica Endinger; great-grandchildren, Tyson Elliott, Taylor Elliott, Mekaila Winkler, Lily Keel, Isabella Keel, Scarlett Ellis, Leeland Ellis, Genevieve Strickland, Adalaide Strickland, Matthew Parker, Benjamin Parker, Zander Endinger, Aaliyah Endinger, and Knoxlyn Duckett.

Our family would also like to honor her precious friendships with, Novella Hensley and April Young. Your friendship and kindness meant the world to our mother. We would also like to express our deep appreciation to Libby Guess for opening her home to our parents in their time of need.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Teresa Mary Ellen Johnson will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Bowen and Rev. Jody Strickland officiating. Eulogy will be given by her son, Kevin Johnson. Interment will follow at Eton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
