Stella "Loretta" Ballew Springfield

Stella "Loretta" Ballew Springfield, age 89, of Chatsworth passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at her home.

Loretta was born on October 31, 1936, in Chatsworth. She was a lifelong member of Holly Creek Baptist Church where she served in many positions. She was an artist and loved raising flowers and traveling with her husband. She was the definition of a prayer warrior.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Springfield; son, Danny Springfield; parents, Claude and Stella Ballew; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Cowart Woodring (John Paul Cowart and Woody Woodring), Faye Silvers (Charles), and Jim Bishop; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Ballew (Glenda), Fred Ballew (Jackie), and Cecil Ballew (Christine); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tom and Sophie Springfield; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell Springfield, Glenn Springfield, Lester Springfield, Fred Springfield, C H Springfield, William (Forest) Springfield, Ulysses (Ulus) Springfield, Dimple Arnold, Pearl Luffman, Gerthie Springfield, Irene Springfield, and Laura Springfield.

Survivors include her sister, Effie Bishop; caregivers and nieces and nephew, Brenda Chambers Lonas (Leon), Janelle Smith (Robert), Gary Cowart (Becky), and Sharon Cowart; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Springfield will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Holly Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Linginfelter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
