Mrs. Ruby Jewell Walker, age 99, took her much anticipated and longed for flight to Heaven on June 12, 2025 to be with her husband, Valver Theron Walker who has been waiting for her there since October of 1982.

Ruby was the last living child of Walter and Annie Mae Corbin and was preceded in death by her six brothers, Tasker Smith, Roy Corbin, Walter Corbin Jr., Raymond Corbin, Clell Corbin, and Paul Corbin; sister, Martha J. Rose.

Survivors include her sons, Valver Leo Walker and Art Anthony Walker; daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren also survive.

She was raised on a farm in northern Alabama during the great depression where she worked in the fields hoeing and picking cotton, cracking open and eating watermelons in the field, as well as helping her mother care for her younger siblings. Ruby will always be remembered as a hardworking and caring sister, wife, mother, and church member. She held on to her sense of humor and glorious smile until the end.

A special thanks goes to the many kind and caring members of the Quinton Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center staff who have been her caregivers and friends for many years.
