A Tribute to the Life of Paula Stambaugh

Paula Roberts Stambaugh, born 8/8/41 in Galax VA passed away peacefully Aug 5 while her daughters held her hands and played her favorite songs. She has joined in heaven her husband of 37 years, John Stambaugh II. They owned Gunrunners/Paula's Pawn in downtown Dalton. Their 5 children, Cheryl, John, Kathy, Rebecca & Audra are grateful to have been raised by intelligent, hard-working, practical parents. They raised us on a farm with a lake, bordering a river which provided great memories of fishing & camping with family & friends. They taught us how to live off the land as well as to be financially responsible. They provided us the experience of raising many types of animals, to ride horses, milk cows, churn butter, hunt, fish, grow food & how to put it away for winter. Our mother raised 5 children without a single relative nearby to help. She had a great sense of humor, grew & knew the name of every flower, played the organ, sang beautifully & knew the words to every song. She taught us to appreciate all types of music & a few dances. She also loved fishing & hunting. Paula was blessed with 5 grandchildren, John Malagutti, Andrew Boling, Amanda Lively, Katie & Michael Boyle; 9 great grandchildren & her SIL 'Sissy' Carolyn Brant of Winchester Va. Predeceased are her parents Paul E. Roberts & Catherine A. Dotson Roberts Walters, sister Elizabeth James, Brother Edward Mouser of Martinsburg WV. An informal Celebration of Life to honor Paula will be held at her church, Holly Creek Baptist, Chatsworth, Saturday August 28 at 1pm in the Christian Life Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the church.
