Obituary

Mr. Ola B. Hooper, Jr., age 83 of Chatsworth passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Jr., better known as Poppie, was the patriarch of our family. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia as a liaison with foreign officers. He spent many days in the White House and the surrounding DC area educating these officers on the history of our country. After Poppie was Honorably discharged, he married the love of his life and remained so for 61 years. He loved NASCAR and followed Richard Petty through his entire career. He was a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He always enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participate in sports activities. Poppie loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In his free time, he and his wife Memaw distributed handmade crosses spreading the gospel to as many people as possible. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. We love you Poppie, and appreciate the example you set for all of us.

Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. Hooper Sr. and Meta Adams Hooper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Janelle Hooper, and Vernon and Jenny Hooper; sisters, Gail Tankersley and Louise and Quince Queen; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kairen, and Logan.
