Mrs. Nell Wilburn, age 96, of Chatsworth, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Bogart, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Wilburn; father and mother, L.D. and Lema Sexton; and her brother, A.V. Sexton.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Wilburn of Crandall, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Terry House of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, Taylor (Emily) House and Haylie House; great-grandchildren, Hadley House and Leo House; extended family also survives.

Nell pursued a teaching career 20 years after graduating from Murray County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Berry College. She later completed her Masters of Education and Educational Specialist degrees from West Georgia College.

Nell began her teaching career in 1971 at Spring Place Elementary, where she taught kindergarten with the help of her coworker and very special friend, Mary Ellen Rice.

Teaching was a true calling for Nell. She loved the children in her care and shaped the beginning of the educational experience for many.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Nell Wilburn will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Holly Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Holly Creek Baptist Church , where Nell was baptized at the age of 16. (422 Holly Creek-Cool Springs Rd, Chatsworth, GA 30705)
