Obituary

Mrs. Nancy Flood Ridley, age 79 of Dalton, a resilient soul, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at her residence. Nancy was born on October 22, 1944, the oldest of Truman and Eva Jones.

She went on to pursue many things. There was nothing Nancy could not do or handle. From her very first job at Dairy Dip, to Wendy's off Connector 3, Nancy lived a full life and never met a stranger! You may have known her from her time at King Supermarket or the 20 years she was at GTE Telephone Company; it could be that you purchased your first home from her or she took care of you whenever she worked at Goody's, Dollar Tree, or Burger King; it even could have been the numerous times she subbed in the Whitfield County School System before working in the cafeteria at Valley Point.

She was a bright light to anyone she met, and she wouldn't rest until she knew you and everyone, she loved was taken care of. That was the thing about Nancy. She had a servant's heart with the determination and strength that will forever be unmatched.

Nancy loved playing cards with her family and was always available for a round of Rummy with her grandchildren, to whom she was known as Mamaw. She wouldn't miss out on an opportunity to take her grandchildren to a yard sale to "show them how it's done", or take a ride up to Ellijay mountains with her sister to browse the various flea market finds. An Avid Atlanta Braves fan, gardener, and chocolate ice cream enthusiast, Nancy will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Nancy was preceded in death by her late husband Kenneth "Albert" Flood, Followed by Raymond Ridley a couple decades later; her mother and father Thurman and Eva Jones; her brother Ernest and wife Mildred Jones; sister, Marie "Jodi" Osborne and husband Bill; her brother-in-law Johnny Payne; sister-in-law, Joyce Jones; and her nephew, Ray Flood and niece, Gail Johnson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Alison Flood; her grandchildren, and their spouses, and great grandchildren, Makenzie and Marisa Martelli-Flood and Spencer, Khaila, Carter, and Riley Flood; her brother, Everett "Tude" Jones, and sister, Mary Lou Payne( of Chatsworth), her nieces, their spouses and children, Felicia, Steve, Lucas, Jacob Corbin; Matt, Bridget, Walker, and Amelia, and Caleb and Savannah Corbin; Sarah Champion, Blake, Corbin, and Hunter; and Lisa and Jimmy Patterson.

She made an instant impact on everyone who met her and on thousands who never will. We will miss Nancy ("Mamaw") dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts and know that she is dancing with Jesus.
