Mary Margaret Lanier, age 63, of Dalton passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth.

Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Howell and Colleen Brown.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Lanier; sons, Tom Lanier (Kristian) of Gastonia, NC, and Sam Lanier (Kensley Screen) of Savannah, GA; daughters, Mary Rose Kemp (Jamie) of Dawsonville, GA, and Elizabeth Evans (Andrew) of Waleska, GA; and grandchildren, Brooks and Olivia Kemp and Madeline Evans.

The family extends sincere thanks to Mary Margaret's longtime caregiver, Judy Ellison, and to Hamilton Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lanier will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 3, 2021, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Eton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Flowers will be accepted, but, alternatively, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth: 121 W Market St, Chatsworth, GA 30705 or to the Alzheimer's Association: 922 E Morris St, Dalton, GA 30721.
