It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Mrs. Mary Jo (Benford) Dobbs, age 73 of Chatsworth, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at AdventHealth Gordon in Calhoun, GA.

Unfortunately, Mary Jo had suffered for several years with numerous health problems and had fought long and hard to no avail. She had suddenly taken ill and succumbed to complications involving her declining health.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mack Dobbs; parents, Lena and Jack Benford; brother, Jarrette (Jackie) Benford; nephew, Jarrette (Allen) Benford; and infant niece, Emily (Gayle) Benford.

She has left behind to mourn her two sons, Jody Dobbs of Chatsworth and Matthew Dobbs of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Barbara (Weems) Benford of Chatsworth; niece, Cynthia (Cindy) Benford-Flanigan of Chatsworth; nephew, Chris (Mikki) Dobbs; three great-nephews, Christopher Benford of Campbellsville, KY, and Tyler and Dillon (Hayley) Flanigan of Chatsworth; and great-niece, Jamie Moore of Dalton, GA. She also leaves her "precious G2's": great-great-nephew and -nieces, Russel Gage Flanigan, Jordyn (Self) Breaunna and Braelynn Flanigan of Chatsworth. Those kids were her world, and they loved their Aunt Jo beyond measure.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Jo (Benford) Dobbs will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Poteet officiating. A graveside committal will follow at Harrison Chapel Cemetery on Hyden Tyler Road, Chatsworth, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Flowers will be accepted, but donations in her memory may be made to Homeland Baptist Church or Chatsworth First Methodist Church.
