Margaret Ann "Peggy" Bailey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on November 22, 2024. Born on May 17, 1938, to Francis Columbus Leonard and Catherine Chaffin Leonard, Peggy was a kind and compassionate woman known for her unwavering love for the Lord, her family, and animals.

Peggy's warmth and generosity extended deep into her local community of Murray County. Her home, always open to friends and family who lovingly called her "Memaw", was a place where laughter, love and conversation flowed freely.

She is survived by her four children, Alan (Judy) Bailey of Flat Rock, AL, DeAun Bailey Taylor of Chatsworth, GA, Tamara (Winston) Massengale of Chatsworth, GA and Missy Bailey of Chatsworth, seven grandchildren: Jason (Rhonda) Bailey, Jill (Michael) Bailey-Clay, Amber (John) Loughridge, Ann Marie (Andy) Washington, Tristan (Jacob) Sturgill, Sarah (Brandon) Poag, and Lane Massengale, eleven great-grandchildren, sister in-law Joyce Strickland, and several nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Lane Bailey, who passed away in 1999.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth with Rev. Graham Arp officiating. Interment will follow at Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Chatsworth or the Murray County Humane Society , a cause Peggy supported throughout her life.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Peggy will be remembered for her love of Christ, boundless generosity, and her legacy of kindness and service to others. She leaves behind a family and community who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
