Madge Marie Christie McElroy, age 85, loving mother, granny, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to many, was born in Neches, Texas on December 23, 1937. She left this life to go to her Heavenly reward on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Crandall, GA. She passed away at home with her family and her hospice nurse in attendance after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was the kind of person who never met a stranger. Once she met you, gave you a hug and a kiss on the cheek, she considered you family or friend for life. Anyone who met her felt loved and accepted. She made everyone feel that they were special and her favorite.

She entered the workforce in her 30's at a sewing factory before returning to school to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse.  She worked for Medical Center Hospital in Tyler, Texas for 30 years.

She was a faithful Christian and member of Whitehouse Church of God and then Whitehouse First Assembly of God in Texas before moving to Georgia in December of 2010. She then became a member of Chatsworth Church of God where she attended until her death.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Adren McElroy, her mother, Myrtie Lue Moore, her step-father, Thomas Moore, her father, David Crockett Christie, her brothers, Chester David Christie and Donald Frank Christie.

She is survived by three daughters: Kathryn Louise McDaniel of Dalton, GA, Velma Lorraine Monday (James) of Crandall, GA, Cynthia Lynn Branscum (Mark) of Troup, TX, and one son, Douglas Landon McElroy (Kim) of Gainesville, FL. She's also survived by one sister, Glenda Beth Christie of Moore, OK. Her loving grandchildren are Stephanie Parakh (Neville), Justin McElroy (Lindie), Heather Shaw (Dan), Cody Branscum (Jessica), Brittney Branscum, and Ashley Henderson (Luke). She was blessed to have 13 great-grandchildren, Zayda, Sophie, Kaira, Jackson, Audrey, Melanie, Micah, Simon, Kacey, Emily, Ian, Jaynee, and Coleman. She has numerous nieces and nephews with a special niece, Tina Jeffrey, and a special nephew, Robert Cheatham.

Georgia services to be held at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth, GA on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Center Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in Whitehouse, Texas on Saturday, December 16th at 3:00 p.m. at The First Assembly of God for the friends and family not able to attend services in Georgia.
