James Thomas King Sr., age 86, of Chatsworth passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Chatsworth Masonic Lodge #664 F&AM, and the American Legion Post 167 of Chatsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Velma King; son, Steven McKinley King; granddaughter, Jessica Sue Jackson; brothers, Ed, Albert, and Luther King; and sisters, Edith Slaughter, Glea Miller, and Evelyn Tankersley.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Geneva Sue King; son, James T. King Jr. of Chatsworth; daughter, Brenda Jackson Varnell of Chatsworth; sister-in-law, Linda King of Chatsworth; sister, Katie Hendrix of Ranger; grandchildren, James Wesley Jackson, Josh Varnell, Madison Varnell, Chloe King, Sadee King, and Mason Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Thomas King Sr. will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 11:00 am from Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Smith and Billy Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites and masonic rites provided.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. James Thomas King Sr.
