Mr. Edwin "Eddie" LaFayette Stainton, Jr., age 82, of Chatsworth, formerly of Greenwood, MS, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at his residence.

Eddie was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church and worked as a letter carrier for 42 years. He served 20 years in the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 112 of Dalton, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Viola Stainton; mother-in-law, Marie Burton; son-in-law, Nathan Gaddy; brother, Richard Brooks.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Stainton of Chatsworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Kim Stainton of Chatsworth, Chad and Tammy Stainton of Savannah, GA, and Salter and Sabrina Stainton of Chatsworth; daughter, Sebre Gaddy of Rocky Face, GA; brother, Frank Magee of Crawford, LA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Lloyd Robinson of Starkville, MS, Shirley and Dave Swaim of Enon, TN; sister-in-law, Lynda Brooks of Byhalia, MS; grandchildren, Kati Moore, Tori and Bryce Middlebrooks, Ali and Colton Lane, Brady Stainton, Cody and Taylor Stainton, Seth and Kelsey Stainton, Kendal and Alec Robbins, Jonathan and Jordan Olinger, Amelia Stainton, Laska and Erin Gaddy, Austin and Brooklyn Stainton, Hallie and Chris Wheeler, and Irelynd Stainton; 14 great-grandchildren; extended family also survives.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Edwin "Eddie" LaFayette Stainton, Jr. will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00pm from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm.
