Edna Irene Carver of Augusta passed away on March 1, 2022, at University Hospital. She was 102.

Irene was born on February 7, 1920, in Murray County, GA. She and her family lived in a number of places, including Brunswick, GA; Springville, Albertville, and Boaz, AL; and Middlesboro and Harlan, KY. She met her future husband, Reuben, after moving back to Murray County.

Irene was a longtime resident of Augusta, having moved there in 1950 to join her husband, who was working on the Clarks Hill dam powerhouse. She brought her three children, and, two years later, had her fourth child. All four were boys, and she was so very proud of them all.

Irene made many friends over the years. She had a zest for life. She learned to ride a bicycle at 75 and snow-skied until her mid-80s. She made annual trips to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed movies and eating out. Irene was a Christian and is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Harve and Maggie Quarles; husband, Reuben D. Carver Sr.; son, Randy Carver; brother, Kinzel Quarles; sister, Inez Hensley; and grandchildren, Reuben III and Kerry Carver.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Doug Jr., Gerald and his wife, Dell, and Wayne. Other survivors are seven grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandkids.

Funeral services for Irene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Our angel mother has left this life for the next and infinitely better life in Heaven, where there is no more sadness, no more pain, only happiness again. Goodbye, Momma, until we meet again. We will love you forever.
