Obituary

Mrs. Brenda Faye Sanford, age 78, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She was welcomed into eternal rest, where pain no longer exists and joy is made complete.

Brenda lived her whole life in Chatsworth, Georgia. She often said she would never want to live anywhere else. She admired the beauty of being at the foot of the mountain and loved knowing someone wherever she went. A faithful member of Holly Creek Baptist Church, she found joy in her community and her faith.

Brenda, known to many as Maw, touched the lives of countless people in ways both big and small, always leaving them better for having known her. If there were an award for the best mother and grandmother, she would win it by a landslide.

Her sense of humor was amazing, as was her style. She loved being around people. Her happiest times were spent laughing with her family and friends. She would never turn down a chance to be with the people she loved. When Maw was around, there was always something to laugh about.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry Sanford, her son Jerry Sanford, Jr., her son-in-law Glenn Nichols, and her special sister Annette Ballew.

Brenda will always be loved and remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Fred Gregg. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Katlyn Palmer (Brennan), Caroline Howard (Beau), Tucker Gregg (Sam), and Katy Sane (Jeremy), as well as seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Pat Smith and Johanna Brown (Winston); her siblings Richard Saunders, Sherry Parson, Diane Stuman, Jimmy Smith, and Kim Thesis; her dear friends Cindy Mooney and Vikki Pickett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

A special thank you to her sisters-in-law Pat and Jo, and her niece Mariana Brown, for caring for her and making it possible for her to stay in the comfort of her home. Our family is deeply grateful to the staff of Compassus Hospice for the excellent care they have provided over the years.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brenda Sanford will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran, Rev. Andrew Bowen, and Mr. Paul Mooney officiating.

Pallbearers: Mike Brown, Greg Brown, Stephen Smith, Greg Linder, Mitchell Long, Chris Townsend.

Mrs. Brenda Sanford will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Holly Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her loved ones will uphold her legacy of love and laughter.

"You have grief now, but I will see you again. Your heart will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you." John 16:22

We love you always, Maw.
