Mr. Billy Ray Smith, age 79, of Chatsworth, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at AdventHealth Gordon.

Ray was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most of all, spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ethel Smith; his brothers, Hershell Smith, Eddie Smith, and Terry Smith; and his sisters, Vivian Postell, Vinnie Carter, and Dorothy Vaughn.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Smith of Chatsworth; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and James Barnes of Chatsworth; his sister, Geraldine Mantooth of Dawnville, GA; and his grandchildren, Jordan Barnes and Madison Barnes; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Billy Ray Smith will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Postell and Mr. James Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Center Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
